Donald Trump is due to address a Washington event featuring senior technology executives and members of his administration, which he has presented as a showcase for the people and ideas behind America’s “Golden Age”.
The day-long gathering will take place at the Andrew W Mellon Auditorium on Tuesday, with the invitation promising an address to the nation and a vision for the country’s next 250 years.
Among the special guests named are SpaceX chief executive Elon Musk, Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang, Anthropic co-founder Tom Brown and Palantir chief technology officer Shyam Sankar.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Energy Secretary Chris Wright and Nasa administrator Jared Isaacman are also listed, alongside Karoline Leavitt, the former White House press secretary.
“Together, we will celebrate the beginning of a new Golden Age — and reveal a bold vision for our nation’s next 250 years,” Mr Trump said in a note included with the invitation.
He added that attendees would be among the first to experience “an unprecedented innovation from the White House — one that will forever change how your government recognizes you, respects your time, and serves you”.
Artificial intelligence and technology discussions
The agenda includes a morning address by Mr Trump followed by afternoon panels on artificial intelligence, energy, space and other subjects. It does not specify who will take part in the panels.
The event comes as the Trump administration and technology leaders consider whether advanced artificial intelligence should face additional safeguards. Executives at Anthropic and OpenAI have recently called for limits on the pace of development, while Mr Huang has argued that some warnings about the technology’s dangers are overstated.
Mr Trump has expressed concern that restricting US companies could allow China to take the lead. Earlier this year, he signed an executive order permitting companies to voluntarily submit powerful new AI models to the federal government for review before their public release.
The invitation says the dinner and afterparty are being sponsored exclusively by Horizon Events. It stresses that they are not official White House functions and are not being paid for with government funds.
Mr Trump is also expected to meet House Speaker Mike Johnson and technology chief executives on the same day, according to two people familiar with the matter who spoke anonymously.
