A 37-year-old man is in critical condition after being mauled by two dogs in a Brisbane park, suffering life-threatening injuries to both arms.
Police were called at about 6.15pm on Friday after witnesses reported seeing the man being attacked in 7th Brigade Park, near Kittyhawk Drive in Chermside.
Emergency services found the local man injured, but the two dogs had fled the scene. He was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital as police, including Polair, searched for the animals.
One dog, believed to be a pit bull, was found later on Friday night. The second was located shortly after 8am on Saturday, with Brisbane City Council considering what action to take.
The Chermside parkrun, which uses a course through 7th Brigade Park, had warned participants that its Saturday event might be cancelled while the dogs were loose.
Organisers later confirmed at about 6am that the run would go ahead, provided participants did not bring dogs and kept small children close to them.
