Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney have questioned the decision to allow Erling Haaland’s goal for Manchester City to stand in the derby against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Haaland converted from close range to put City ahead after the assistant referee initially raised the flag for offside. VAR reviewed the incident before overturning the on-field decision and awarding the goal.

Neville, working as a commentator for Sky Sports, said he was unable to understand why the Norway international had not been penalised.
“I need the offside law explaining to me, that has lost me I have to say. It will need an official to explain to us why he’s not offside,” Neville said.
He added: “I do think when they look back at this they’ll realise they’ve got it wrong.”
Rooney shared Neville’s view, arguing that United defender Martinez had been affected by the movement of Enzo, who he believed was in an offside position.
“Surely it’s offside. Martinez is impacted by Enzo’s movement, and he is offside,” Rooney said.
City had been reduced to 10 men following Phil Foden’s red card in the 23rd minute, yet United had struggled to make their numerical advantage count. City had looked the stronger side overall, leaving United with cause to regret the situation in which Haaland’s goal was allowed to stand.
