A Venezuelan fugitive wanted on charges including sexual assault of a child and stalking has been arrested in Travis County, Texas, after police received a tip about his whereabouts.
Fermin Alejandro Calles Garcia, 24, was detained without incident on 5 September during a traffic stop in north-west Travis County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
Officers from Cedar Park Police Department carried out the stop, while special agents from the DPS Criminal Investigations Division in Austin assisted with the investigation. The department has recorded the arrest as a joint operation involving its agents and Cedar Park officers.
Calles Garcia had been wanted in Travis County since March 2025. The charges listed against him are sexual assault of a child, stalking and assault causing bodily injury, the latter relating to a misdemeanour warrant.
He had also appeared on the Texas 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants list before his capture, according to state officials.
DPS said the person who provided the information leading to his arrest would be eligible for a Crime Stoppers cash reward. The tipster’s identity has not been disclosed.
