A 71-year-old woman has died after being struck by a concrete truck while crossing a road in Oak Park, Illinois, police said.
Ann Marie LoPrieno was hit shortly before 9am on Wednesday, September 23, at the junction of North Boulevard and Euclid Avenue. Police and firefighters attended the scene before she was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in critical condition.
She was pronounced dead at 9.17am, according to Oak Park police.
The truck was operated by a concrete supplier working on the Oak Park Avenue streetscape project and was travelling from the construction site when the collision happened, authorities said.
The driver stayed at the scene and is co-operating with investigators. No charges have been announced.
Euclid Avenue, between Lake Street and South Boulevard, was closed for about five hours as police examined the scene. It reopened shortly after 2pm.
The Oak Park Police Department is continuing to investigate the fatal collision.
