A 20-year-old woman has died after her Hyundai Veloster collided with a truck in Tapping, in Perth’s north, on Monday morning.
The crash happened at about 6.45am at the intersection of Pinjar Road and Yandella Parade. The woman suffered critical injuries and was taken to Joondalup Health Campus, where she later died.
The 26-year-old male driver of the white Iveco truck was not injured.
The death came as police confirmed that a 65-year-old cyclist critically injured in an alleged hit-and-run in Northam had also died in hospital.
Police said the cyclist was travelling east across Peel Terrace Bridge at about 12.25am on Saturday, September 12, when he was injured. He was taken to Northam Regional Hospital before being transferred to Royal Perth Hospital, where he later died.
A 51-year-old Northam man, who police allege was driving a Nissan Navara, has been charged with failing to stop and assist, failing to report an incident and driving without authority.
The deaths come as Western Australia’s road toll was reported to have reached 154 in 2026, making it the state’s deadliest in almost two decades.
