BBC Sport is expanding its coverage of the Women’s Super League for the 2026-27 season, with 25 matches to be shown live on BBC television and iPlayer, beginning with Chelsea’s meeting with Aston Villa on Saturday, 5 September.
The broadcaster will also introduce The Women’s Football Fallout, a 15-minute post-match programme to follow each live fixture. England greats Fara Williams and Steph Houghton are among the pundits expected to provide analysis and reaction.
The enhanced offering comes as the WSL prepares for its first season with 14 clubs rather than 12, following the promotion of Birmingham City and Crystal Palace. A new BBC Women’s Football YouTube channel will provide a separate home for original video, extended highlights from every WSL match, interviews and features throughout the campaign.
One of its first original formats will be The Debrief, a weekly series bringing together players who are close friends or teammates. The programme will examine the relationships behind the football through conversations and challenges.
The broadcaster’s Women’s Football Weekly podcast will also move to Mondays on BBC Sounds, allowing presenter Ben Haines and former Lionesses striker Ellen White to review the weekend’s action.
White, England’s all-time leading scorer, will be joined by prominent figures from the women’s game to discuss the latest results, news and wider developments, with the programme intended to offer the final word on the weekend.
BBC Sport’s women’s football coverage will continue online, with senior reporter Emma Sanders providing transfer news, player interviews and analysis through the website and app.
For the first time, supporters will be able to follow their own WSL club through dedicated team pages, bringing together match coverage and other BBC content in one place.
Additional material will be published through BBC Women’s Football accounts on TikTok and Instagram, while a new fan chat page will give supporters a forum to debate the major talking points and issues surrounding the league.
The BBC said its coverage will span live matches, highlights, commentary, podcasts and digital features across the 2026-27 season.
