A 13-year-old boy has been arrested and charged over alleged sexual offences involving women and girls on walking trails in Sydney’s northern beaches.
NSW Police allege there were 11 separate incidents in the Narrabeen area involving people aged between 13 and 54, mostly between October 1 and 12.
The boy was arrested after attending Mona Vale police station at about 7.30pm following a public appeal, police said.
He has been charged with three counts of behaving in an offensive manner near a public place and eight counts of sexually touching another person without consent.
Police began investigating after three alleged incidents in two days, in which a male allegedly approached women on walking trails, sexually touched them and rode away on an e-bike. In one case, he allegedly made inappropriate sexual comments.
Further reports included an alleged incident at Narrabeen Lagoon at the start of the month, and two allegations from October 12 involving women walking near Bilarong Reserve.
Police are also investigating an earlier report in which a woman was allegedly spoken to inappropriately near the intersection of Waroon Road and Carawa Road in Cromer at about 6.45pm on September 7.
The boy has been granted conditional bail and is due to appear in a children’s court on November 4.
Anyone with information, mobile phone or dashcam footage, or who witnessed any of the alleged incidents, has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
