Cadillac has announced a revised 2027 Lyriq for Australia, adding new driver-assistance features and a more sophisticated sound system while reducing the electric SUV’s battery capacity, driving range and rapid-charging speed.
The range will initially consist solely of the Lyriq Sport AWD, priced at A$90,000 before on-road costs. A high-performance Lyriq-V is expected to join the line-up later.
Power comes from a revised dual-motor system producing 384kW and 720Nm. Although peak power is 4kW lower than before, torque rises by 110Nm, cutting the claimed 0-100km/h time from 5.3 seconds to 4.9 seconds.
That improvement comes with a compromise in battery performance. The nickel-manganese-cobalt battery has been reduced from 102kWh to 92kWh, while claimed WLTP range falls from 530km to 503km.
Maximum DC charging capacity also drops, from 190kW to 130kW. Cadillac says the updated Lyriq can recover up to 114km of range in 10 minutes using a suitable rapid charger, while 22kW AC charging can add up to 105km in an hour.
The smaller battery is partly offset by improved efficiency. Official energy consumption falls from 22.5kWh per 100km to 20.2kWh per 100km on the combined cycle.
For 2027, lane centring and traffic-sign recognition have been added to the safety equipment. However, the two front knee airbags have been removed, reducing the total number of airbags to six.
The cabin gains an upgraded AKG Studio audio system with 23 speakers, compared with 19 in the outgoing model, as well as Dolby Atmos capability and speakers built into the front headrests.
Other equipment includes the 33-inch curved display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Brembo front brakes, heated front and rear seats, ventilated front seats and a full-glass roof with a powered sunshade.
The Australian model is built in right-hand drive at General Motors’ Spring Hill plant in Tennessee. Cadillac’s Australian website currently lists the outgoing Lyriq with its 102kWh battery, 530km range and 190kW DC charging, highlighting the extent of the changes for the 2027 model year.
