A seven-night Cook Islands getaway combines three nights at Aitutaki Lagoon Private Island Resort with four nights at Sanctuary Rarotonga – On the Beach, offering travellers a stay across two of the Pacific destination’s most distinctive islands.
The itinerary begins on Motu Akitua, a small island in Aitutaki Lagoon, where Premium Beachfront Bungalows sit beside Sunset Beach. Guests have access to kayaks, paddleboards, snorkelling equipment and bicycles, with the lagoon just a short distance from each veranda.
The package also includes selected dining and drinks experiences, including a sunset bottle of Lindauer Brut, an Island Goddess cocktail, and pizza served on the sand with wine or beer. Friday arrivals can attend a sunset cocktail party with complimentary drinks.
Aitutaki Lagoon and island traditions
A private ferry connects the resort with Aitutaki’s main island for an island tour. Stops include the Aitutaki Marine Research Centre, where giant clams are raised in a nursery, and Arutanga’s coral-and-limestone church, which dates from 1828.
The tour also visits Poaki O Rae Marae, described as the island’s largest ancient sacred site, as well as Tautu Village, Vaipae and Piraki Lookout, which offers views across the lagoon.
After a 50-minute flight south, the second part of the stay is at Sanctuary Rarotonga – On the Beach, beside Aroa Lagoonarium. Its Beachfront Suites open directly on to Aroa Beach, with kayaks, paddleboards and snorkelling equipment available to guests, alongside a tennis court.
An Island Night introduces visitors to traditional food and performance, with warriors’ chants and dances accompanied by Manavanui’s drummers. The umu, an underground oven, is prepared by slow-cooking meat wrapped in banana leaves, while the buffet can include ika mata, rukau, nita and poke.
Snorkelling and a lagoon lunch
A glass-bottom boat trip with Captain Tama crosses Muri Lagoon to the protected marine site at Tikioki. The waters are home to moray eels, giant trevally, butterflyfish, triggerfish, giant clams and turtles.
Following the snorkelling trip, lunch is served on a small island, with fish cooked over an open fire, barbecued bananas and curried pawpaw salad. Back at the resort, guests can design and print matching Polynesian pareu.
The package includes accommodation in a Beachfront Bungalow at Aitutaki Lagoon Private Island Resort and an upgraded Beachfront Suite at Sanctuary Rarotonga – On the Beach, as well as return flights with checked luggage, domestic flights between Rarotonga and Aitutaki, airport and private ferry transfers, and daily cooked buffet breakfast.
The offer is available to book until October 31, 2026, with terms and conditions applying.
