Google is rolling out Android Auto 17.6 with a redesigned green logo, marking a subtle visual change to the platform’s branding rather than a major overhaul of its in-car features.
The updated icon has appeared intermittently on some Android devices in recent weeks, but version 17.6 appears to be the first release to adopt the new design fully. Earlier versions used a blue variation of the Android Auto logo.
The change was highlighted by APKMirror’s Artem Russakovskii. Alongside the green icon, Google has made a small adjustment to the Android Auto wordmark, bringing it into line with the refreshed branding.
Google has also updated parts of the official Android Auto website. The new logo can be seen in promotional material, including a video thumbnail featuring the service’s Gemini integration.
Where the new Android Auto logo appears
For most users, the redesign will be easy to miss. Notifications may sometimes display the green icon, although the older blue version continues to appear in many cases.
The new branding can be seen most consistently in the Android app switcher when users open Android Auto’s settings. The settings menu itself has also gained a green accent colour to match the revised logo.
The update therefore represents a limited identity refresh for Android Auto, with Google currently using the old and new designs in different parts of the Android experience.
