Arsenal are tracking Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha as Mikel Arteta considers long-term options for the left side of his attack.
The 18-year-old has already made a strong impression at Anfield and recently made his senior debut for England. Arsenal’s interest comes as the club face a lack of natural depth on the left, with Christos Tzolis currently sidelined through injury.
Arsenal tracking Rio Ngumoha as Liverpool seek to retain winger
However, Liverpool are determined to keep Ngumoha and are working to secure his long-term future. The teenager is understood to be keen to remain at Anfield and continue his development with the club.
Bayern Munich have also shown interest, but Liverpool’s position means Arsenal are more likely to be monitoring the situation than preparing for an straightforward transfer.
Ngumoha has made 35 senior appearances for Liverpool and became the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer when he scored against Newcastle United in August 2025.
His pace, technical ability and confidence in one-on-one situations would suit Arsenal’s preferred style. He can operate from either wing and is also regarded as willing to work without the ball, a quality that would fit into Arteta’s pressing structure.
Virgil van Dijk has previously praised the youngster after a strong Liverpool performance, describing him as a “special talent” and saying: “Rio was outstanding.”
For Arsenal, Ngumoha would represent a long-term investment rather than an immediate necessity. He remains a developing player who would require patience, while Liverpool have little incentive to sell one of their most promising young players to a direct rival.
Unless the winger’s circumstances change significantly, Arsenal could find it extremely difficult to turn their interest into a deal.
