Arsenal came from behind to beat Chelsea 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium in a compelling Premier League London derby, preserving their perfect start to the season.
Chelsea took the lead after only 77 seconds when Morgan Rogers fired a low shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the area after Arsenal failed to clear a free-kick.
The hosts responded with sustained pressure and thought they had equalised when Riccardo Calafiori finished from close range, but the goal was ruled out after a VAR review found Ezri Konsa offside in the build-up.
Arsenal were not to be denied for long. Kai Havertz cut in from the right and placed a shot inside the near post in the 25th minute, bringing the champions level against his former club.
Martin Odegaard completed the turnaround five minutes after the interval, meeting a low delivery after Havertz cleverly allowed the ball to run through to him before finishing from close range.
Chelsea threatened an equaliser, with Pedro Neto striking the post in first-half stoppage time and Estevao forcing a late save from David Raya. Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez also denied Bukayo Saka and Ezri Konsa as the home side held on.
The victory leaves Arsenal level with Manchester City at the top of the early Premier League table, while Chelsea suffered their first defeat of the campaign despite producing a spirited display at the Emirates.
