Mikel Arteta has urged respect for the ongoing process surrounding Manchester City’s charges, refusing to comment further while the case remains unresolved.
The Arsenal manager was asked about the matter during his press conference as attention returned to the Premier League following the international break. City were reported to have been found guilty of the vast majority of the 115 charges brought against them, but the case has been appealed.
Arteta, who previously worked as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City, said: “I fully understand the question but I think it’s really important that we respect the process, the timelines and it’s still an ongoing process that’s not resolved as it’s been appealed.”
Mikel Arteta prepares for Arsenal return
Arteta’s focus now turns to Arsenal’s meeting with Leeds United in the early kick-off at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
The Gunners will be looking to respond after losing to Brighton in their final match before the international break. Manchester City, meanwhile, face a difficult away fixture against Liverpool and could drop points.
Arsenal have injury concerns ahead of the game, with Kai Havertz and England defender Ezri Konsa among those whose availability is uncertain.
Arteta confirmed that Max Dowman is available, but said he was not yet sure whether Havertz or Konsa would be fit to play.
