Aston Villa have completed the club-record signing of 18-year-old Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye in a deal worth £47 million.
The Senegal international moves to Villa Park after a breakthrough season in which he helped PSG retain Ligue 1 and claim a second successive Champions League title. He also scored for Senegal at the 2026 World Cup, becoming the youngest African player to find the net in the competition, according to PSG.
Mbaye was born in Trappes, in the Paris region, and joined the PSG academy at the age of 10. He made his senior debut in August 2024, aged 16 years and six months, becoming the youngest player to start a match for the French club.
The right winger’s arrival comes after Villa sanctioned the £51m sale of England forward Ollie Watkins to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
Mbaye made his Senegal debut in November 2025 before featuring at the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico. He scored in the group-stage defeat by France, pulling a goal back in stoppage time.
His transfer had been under discussion for several days, with Villa understood to have turned to Mbaye after their pursuit of AC Milan forward Rafael Leão failed to produce an agreement. Liverpool had also explored a move for the teenager earlier in the summer.
The deal makes Mbaye Aston Villa’s most expensive signing, with the club seeking to add pace and attacking depth to Unai Emery’s squad.
