Chicago is set for a dry but unseasonably warm marathon day, with temperatures expected to reach the mid to upper 70s Fahrenheit on Sunday.
The remnants of Hurricane IsaÃas are forecast to remain far enough away from the city to keep rain at bay, offering favourable conditions for the marathon and other outdoor activities across Chicagoland.
Temperatures will be slightly cooler close to Lake Michigan, while the rest of the area enjoys mostly dry weather. Skies are expected to remain clear to partly cloudy overnight, with lows in the upper 50s and lower 60s.
The warmth will build further on Monday, when temperatures could approach or exceed 84F, Chicago’s record high for the date. Mostly sunny skies are expected, alongside a gusty south-westerly breeze.
Unseasonably warm conditions will continue into Tuesday, with highs in the lower 80s. The weather is expected to turn more unsettled from Tuesday night into Wednesday as showers develop and cooler air moves into the region.
Highs should fall into the upper 60s on Wednesday and remain similar on Thursday, with further showers possible through Friday. Temperatures will ease into the lower 60s by Friday before a markedly cooler spell arrives over the weekend, when highs may struggle to reach the 50s.
