The death has left residents in the Oak Cliff community struggling to understand how the shooting happened. Neighbour Bernard William Shabad said the tragedy had renewed his concerns about gun violence and the need for greater attention to children’s safety.
“But I never would have thought that it would happen like that. Yeah, real sad. They gotta pay attention to their kids,” he said.
Shabad added: “There’s too much of this going on, man. Too much.”
He said the death of the child was particularly difficult to accept, adding: “A little baby got killed by guns.”
