Broadchurch actress Daphne Neville puts Grade II-listed Cotswold mill on the market
Daphne Neville, the actress who played Charlotte Rampling’s bedridden mother Margery Knight in ITV’s Broadchurch, has put her Grade II-listed home in Gloucestershire up for sale.
Bakers Mill, in Frampton Mansell in the Cotswolds, is being marketed with a guide price of £1.85 million. The secluded property sits in the Golden Valley, between Stroud and Cirencester, and extends across almost 12 acres of gardens, grounds and paddocks.
Neville, 89, lived at the mill for more than 60 years. The property has been linked with the neighbouring Twissels Mill, a former Georgian silk mill that was converted into additional accommodation in 1965.
The home retains period features including exposed beams, wooden floors and a large fireplace, while the grounds include a private lake, waterfall, gardens and two paddocks. The River Frome runs alongside the meadow, and the property also includes former mill infrastructure that could potentially be used to generate energy, according to the sales particulars.
Bakers Mill has also attracted attention from the film and television industry. The house has been used as a location for productions including The House of Eliott and The Durrells.
Neville’s acting credits include Broadchurch, where she appeared opposite Rampling in the second series. Rampling played former barrister Jocelyn Knight, while Neville portrayed her mother, Margery.
The actress has also been associated with the property’s tame otters, including Rudi, which appeared in television programmes and films. Her home and work with the animals have previously been featured in country-life publications.
The property is being sold through Knight Frank’s Cirencester team.
