A 30-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly leading deputies on a 115mph chase along Interstate 85 in Coweta County, Georgia, during which his SUV nearly struck a motorcyclist.
Christopher Rice, from Lithonia, was stopped after deputies said he was driving slowly in the fast lane and holding up traffic. He initially pulled over but then rejoined the motorway and accelerated away, according to the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.

The pursuit quickly reached speeds of more than 115mph, with the Toyota RAV4 allegedly weaving between vehicles. Deputies said Rice came close to hitting a motorcycle as he tried to escape.
Concern for the motorcyclist prompted a deputy to end the chase abruptly. Authorities have not disclosed the precise manoeuvre used to stop the vehicle.
After Rice was detained, deputies searched the SUV and reported finding a large quantity of ecstasy. Investigators also recovered two firearms – one inside the vehicle and another allegedly on Rice.
Rice has been charged with trafficking ecstasy, possessing a firearm as a convicted felon and possessing a firearm during the commission of a crime. He also faces several traffic-related charges.
He was booked into Coweta County Jail and remains in custody without bond. Officials have not said where he had been travelling from or revealed the exact amount of ecstasy allegedly seized.
