Drakeo the Ruler’s estate has settled a wrongful death lawsuit against Live Nation, Hollywood Elite Security Inc, Black Tide Events LLC and other companies, almost five years after the rapper was fatally stabbed at a concert in Los Angeles.
The agreement follows a case filed by Drakeo’s brother in 2022 over the death, which occurred during a backstage altercation at the 2021 Once Upon A Time Festival.
The terms of the settlement have not been disclosed. Court documents state that the agreement remains conditional on certain terms being completed within 45 days of the settlement documents being signed.
Drakeo’s brother alleged that the backstage area should have been safe for the rapper and criticised the promoters’ security arrangements, describing them as “lackadaisical to totally absent”.
The lawsuit named Live Nation, Hollywood Elite Security, Black Tide Events and other companies as defendants.
