Eleven people have been arrested and a range of illegal drugs and firearms seized during a week of street-level enforcement in Clayton County, Georgia, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies recovered 284.5 grams of marijuana, 39 grams of MDMA, 15.5 grams of powder and crack cocaine, and four grams of methamphetamine during the operation.
Nine of those arrested are facing felony charges, while one vehicle was impounded, according to figures released by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office.
The arrests were made during the second week of activity by the sheriff’s Rapid Action Patrol and Tactical Operations Response unit, known as R.A.P.T.O.R.
Deputies also reported finding two handguns. One was a Glock fitted with an illegal switch, a device capable of converting a semi-automatic pistol into a fully automatic weapon.
The second firearm was allegedly recovered from a person with a previous felony conviction.
The R.A.P.T.O.R. unit was established by Sheriff Levon Allen to carry out daily proactive patrols across the county. During its first week, the unit made seven arrests, including four felony arrests, and seized more than three pounds of drugs, primarily cocaine.
The sheriff’s office has not released the names or ages of those arrested, nor has it provided a full breakdown of the formal charges.
Officials have also not disclosed the specific neighbourhoods, road junctions or traffic stops where the arrests and seizures took place.
Records published by Clayton County warn that an arrest or detention does not mean a person has been convicted of an offence.
