Elizabeth Holmes’s prison release date has been brought forward, with the former Theranos chief executive now projected to leave custody fully on 22 February 2030.
The change comes after her sentence was reduced by 12 months in March 2026. Holmes is currently serving her sentence at the Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, Texas, where she surrendered on 30 May 2023.
Elizabeth Holmes prison release date brought forward
Holmes was sentenced in November 2022 to 135 months in prison, or more than 11 years, after being found guilty of defrauding investors. Her original projected release date was 2032.
The sentence reduction followed consideration of revised federal sentencing guidelines. Those guidelines cited Holmes’s lack of previous convictions and noted that none of the investors affected by the failed venture had experienced financial hardship as a result.
She is scheduled to transfer to the Austin Transitional Center in Del Valle, Texas, on 23 August 2027, before completing her sentence.
Holmes, now 42, founded Theranos, a company that claimed its technology could carry out a wide range of blood tests using only a small amount of blood. The company’s technology and business claims were later found to be misleading.
She has returned to public attention following the release of Nathan Fielder’s documentary You Can See Everything, which is currently in cinemas. The film follows Holmes, her long-term partner Billy Evans and their family during the 34 days before she reported to prison in May 2023.
