Three men have been killed and four others wounded in a shooting on Prest Street in Detroit after an altercation escalated into gunfire, police said.
Officers were called to the city’s west side shortly after 7.20am on Sunday, September 27, near the junction of Prest Street and Eaton Avenue. Police said the four injured victims — two men and two women — were taken to hospital in private vehicles with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison said officers arrived within about four minutes after a ShotSpotter alert and found the three men suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. Their identities had not been released.
Investigators believe a fight preceded the shooting. No arrests had been announced, although Chief Bettison said police had leads and were working to identify those responsible.
The property was described by police as an after-hours venue hosting adult-entertainment-style activities. Chief Bettison said the address had already been the subject of a police investigation and had generated seven calls for service since the beginning of 2026.
He said there was no continuing threat to the wider public. Detroit Mayor Mary Sheffield said the city would work with police to tackle illegal after-hours operations in homes and businesses.
