Mel Owens and Peg Munson have split nearly a year after their relationship was confirmed following their appearance on the second season of The Golden Bachelor.
Munson, 63, announced the break-up on Instagram on Wednesday, saying she had made the “difficult decision” to leave the relationship.
“Sometimes even when there’s love, it just doesn’t turn out the way we hoped,” she said. “Right now, I’m just focusing on healing my heart and focusing on myself, my health and looking forward to the next chapter.”
Owens, 67, has not publicly addressed the split.
The couple met while filming the ABC dating show and became a couple during its second season. In the finale, which aired in November 2025, Owens gave Munson his final rose and presented her with a commitment ring rather than proposing.
Munson said the end of the relationship was “not the end of my story”, describing it instead as “the beginning of a new chapter”.
“I really want to thank everybody for being on this journey with me for the past year,” she said. “I’m really sorry that I haven’t spoken out sooner but it’s been a really difficult 30 days for me.”
She added that she had gone on The Golden Bachelor hoping to find love and was grateful that she had done so, while thanking fans for their messages of support.
