Heavy clashes have been reported between Houthi fighters and Yemeni forces as the Houthis advance towards the strategic southern city of Taiz.
Yousef Mawry, reporting from Sanaa, said the fighting near Taiz could have significant implications for Yemen’s internationally recognised government if the city were to be lost.
The developments centre on the Houthis’ movement towards Taiz, with fighting reported between the group’s fighters and forces aligned against them.
