Friends of the four University of Idaho murder victims have married in Boise, nearly four years after the killings, honouring those they lost during their wedding celebrations.
Emily Alandt and Hunter Johnson, who were among the first people to discover the crime scene in November 2022, tied the knot over the weekend.
The couple included a memorial to Ethan Chapin and Xana Kernodle at the ceremony. A sign also named another late friend, Katie Marshall, alongside the message: “You are forever with us today and every day.”
Stacy Chapin, Ethan’s mother, attended the wedding and shared photographs of the newlyweds with her family. They included Ethan’s father, Jim, and his triplet siblings, Maizie and Hunter.
The wedding followed a traumatic period for Alandt and Johnson. They were called to the off-campus house by surviving roommate Dylan Mortensen on the morning after the killings.
Johnson was among the first to enter the property and discovered the bodies of his friends.
Bryan Kohberger pleaded guilty to killing Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, Kaylee Goncalves and Madison Mogen, and was sentenced to four consecutive life terms without parole in July 2025. He has since attempted to withdraw his guilty plea.
Al andt and Johnson have previously spoken about relying on each other while dealing with the trauma. Johnson had also expressed hope that they would one day build a family together.
The couple are now beginning married life while keeping the friends they lost close to their hearts.
