Israel has opened its first national pavilion at the Marrakech Air Show, bringing eight defence companies to the Moroccan exhibition in the latest sign of closer military and diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Israel’s Ministry of Defence said the participation was the first by the country at a defence exhibition in Morocco since the signing of the Abraham Accords in 2020.
“This marks Israel’s first official participation in the defence exhibition held in Morocco since the signing of the Abraham Accords,” the ministry said in a statement.
The show, being held at the Marrakech Royal Moroccan Air Force Base from 7 to 10 October, brings together civil and military aviation and space companies to display their latest products and technologies.
Israel’s pavilion features what the ministry described as “advanced, combat-proven technologies”. Elbit Systems, Israel Aerospace Industries and Rafael, the country’s three major defence manufacturers, are also exhibiting.
The companies are presenting equipment and systems across air, land and sea operations, as well as space, intelligence, cyber and digital fields.
The event marks a further expansion of relations between Israel and Morocco, which restored ties in 2020 under the US-backed Abraham Accords.
Last month, the two countries agreed to raise their diplomatic missions to embassy status and appoint ambassadors. The decision followed a meeting between their foreign ministers hosted by Mike Waltz, the US ambassador to the United Nations, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
They also agreed to expand air links by reinstating direct flights operated by carriers from both countries, while confirming plans for high-level bilateral visits in the coming months.
Morocco is among five countries to have pledged troops to Gaza under the US-backed International Stabilisation Force, part of US President Donald Trump’s proposed Board of Peace.
