Vice President JD Vance is to take part in a town hall in Michigan with CBS Evening News anchor Tony Dokoupil as Democrats and Republicans compete for control of Congress in the 2026 midterm elections.
The one-hour programme will be broadcast on October 17 at 8pm Eastern and Pacific time on the CBS Television Network, with streaming available on Paramount+.
Vance is expected to discuss the congressional race and the issues influencing voters, including affordability, tariffs, immigration, healthcare, artificial intelligence, the war with Iran and the state of American democracy.
Michigan was chosen as the setting ahead of a series of closely watched contests. The state has a battleground Senate race and several competitive House elections, while voters will also choose a new governor for the first time in eight years.
An audience of Michigan voters from across the political spectrum will put questions to the vice president about the issues affecting their daily lives and their priorities ahead of the election.
The programme, titled “CBS News Things That Matter: A Town Hall With Vice President JD Vance”, will also be available afterwards on CBSNews.com, YouTube and CBS News 24/7.
