John Travolta hosted The Official Ramones 50th Anniversary Tribute at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles on Sunday, August 30, appearing in a maroon beret for the milestone event.
The 72-year-old actor presented the concert and film screening, which marked five decades since the release of the Ramones’ self-titled debut album.
The advertised musical line-up included Cretin Family, a one-off supergroup featuring Tim Armstrong, Billie Joe Armstrong, Travis Barker and former Ramones bassist CJ Ramone. Artist and designer Shepard Fairey was also listed as a special guest DJ.
The evening’s programme combined the Ramones tribute concert with screenings of the 50th-anniversary edition of Carrie and Travolta’s new film, Propeller One-Way Night Coach.
The event at the Los Angeles cemetery was organised in support of cancer research led by Dr David Agus at the Ellison Institute.
