Kelly Clarkson brought her seven-season daytime talk show to an emotional close on Monday, with her two children joining her for the final farewell.
River Rose, 12, and Remington Alexander, 10, watched from the audience before embracing their mother on stage at the end of The Kelly Clarkson Show.
The programme’s final episode, filmed in June and aired on August 31, was built around music and fan requests. Clarkson performed songs including Since U Been Gone, Sober, Stronger and Piece by Piece, as well as her new single I’d Be Lying. She also sang Golden from the soundtrack to KPop Demon Hunters during the last edition of the show’s popular “Kellyoke” segment.
Clarkson described the occasion as “bittersweet” as she reflected on the programme’s seven-year run. The episode included archive footage of River and Remington, who had appeared on the show at various points since it launched in September 2019.
Before the finale, showrunner and executive producer Alex Duda said the team had wanted to make the last programme a celebration for viewers rather than a simple goodbye.
“We just tried to make it be a celebration, especially that last episode, tried to make that be for the fans and help them help us say goodbye,” Duda told People.
The final episode followed Clarkson’s decision to step away from the daily hosting schedule so she could devote more time to her children. She announced in February that the seventh season would be her last, saying the change would allow her to “prioritise my kids” during the next chapter of their lives. River later told her mother that her favourite part of the show had been “watching you shine”.
The children are Clarkson’s son and daughter with her late former husband, Brandon Blackstock, who died from cancer in August 2025 aged 48.
Duda said the passage of time was particularly clear when watching the children take part in the finale.
“It’s been seven years. We haven’t changed a bit, but when you look at River and Remy, you know time has gone by because they’re almost grown up and they did so great,” she said.

Clarkson thanked the programme’s crew, musicians, guests, viewers and NBC, saying she had been “forever grateful and honoured” to have worked with them.
