Liverpool have made contact with intermediaries over a possible move for Barcelona defender Jules Kounde, with Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea also reportedly interested ahead of the January transfer window.
Bayern Munich are understood to be monitoring the situation, while Kounde is considering his future after losing his regular starting place under Barcelona manager Hansi Flick.
The France international has featured prominently at right-back in the past, but competition from Eric Garcia has restricted his opportunities in recent weeks. His reduced involvement has raised doubts about his long-term plans at the Catalan club.
Liverpool transfer interest in Jules Kounde
Liverpool are reportedly in contact with intermediaries as they assess whether a deal could be possible. Arsenal and Manchester United have also been informed that the defender may be open to leaving Barcelona in January.
Chelsea have admired Kounde since his time at Sevilla, while Bayern see his ability to operate at both right-back and centre-back as an attractive quality as they consider strengthening their defence.
Barcelona set €60m valuation
Barcelona would demand at least €60 million (£52 million) before considering Kounde’s departure, according to the report. The 27-year-old remains under contract until 2030, meaning the Spanish club are under no immediate pressure to sell.
Although Barcelona have alternatives in defence, they are unlikely to accept a significant financial loss on an established international. No formal offers have been made, but discussions behind the scenes mean a January move has not been ruled out.
With several leading European clubs tracking his position, Kounde could become one of the most sought-after defenders of the winter transfer window.
