Liverpool have held talks with Brentford technical director Lee Dykes about potentially replacing Richard Hughes, although an internal appointment is currently considered the more likely outcome.
Hughes recently left Anfield to become sporting director of Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal, ending a mixed spell in charge of Liverpool’s recruitment operation.
BBC Sport reports that Liverpool are assessing several candidates for the vacancy and have met Dykes as part of that process. No decision has been made, with the club continuing to consider its options.

Dykes has overseen significant progress at Brentford, where the club have been praised for their work in both buying and selling players while remaining competitive in the Premier League.
The potential move would represent a step up in pressure and scale, with Liverpool operating in a different market and expected to compete for a higher calibre of player.
Liverpool’s recent transfer business has produced some high-profile additions, including Alexander Isak and Bradley Barcola, but the club’s substantial spending on marquee signings has not been universally successful.
