Love Is Blind: UK contestants have lifted the lid on the unseen romances and secret moments that were left out of the Netflix series, including a surprise Pilates lesson arranged by newlywed Ajay for his fiancée Ciara.
The third series saw 30 single men and women form relationships from behind the pods’ dividing walls, with six couples eventually becoming engaged. Ciara and Ajay were among the couples who made it to the altar and said “I do”, while Chevanique left the experiment without finding a lasting match. Ciara said the experience was “intense”, with contestants spending much of each day dating and developing several relationships at once. She revealed that viewers saw only a fraction of her time with Ajay during the pod stage.
“There was a lot of mine and Ajay’s relationship that you just don’t see at all, especially in the pods,” the Pilates instructor said.
Among the moments that failed to make the final edit was Ajay arranging for Ciara to teach him Pilates. She described the exchange as “very sweet”, explaining that the cast were filmed for around ten hours a day and that it was impossible for every conversation to be shown.
Chevanique also disclosed that her storyline was significantly condensed. She said Joseph was not her only connection in the pods and had not been her first choice, despite the impression created by the programme.
“A lot of people are assuming that Joseph was my only connection. He wasn’t, he wasn’t even my number one connection,” she said.
Chevanique said she had been dating two men and chose to end one relationship after deciding the person was not genuine. Her remaining connection then came to an end naturally.
The contestants also spoke about the role played by hosts Emma and Matt Willis, who are not often seen in the finished episodes but were more involved behind the scenes. Chevanique said Emma, who shares a Birmingham background with her, encouraged the women to remain authentic.
“When I spoke to Emma, she’d just say, ‘Be true to yourself’,” Chevanique said. “She was like, ‘Just be you’.”
Ciara added that the couple’s own marriage made their advice feel genuine, saying Emma and Matt appeared to have a strong connection and urged the contestants to be open and honest.
The revelations came after the season-three reunion, where the cast returned to discuss the relationships formed in the pods and what happened after the cameras stopped filming.
