A man has been shot dead at a home in Merrylands West in Sydney’s west, sparking a police investigation and marking the city’s second fatal shooting in two days.
Emergency services were called to Bruce Street at about 3.15pm on Wednesday after reports that a man, believed to be in his 30s, had been injured.
Paramedics treated the man at the scene, but he died from his injuries. His identity has not yet been formally confirmed.
Police have established a crime scene as detectives work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The property is close to a primary school on Bruce Street.
The death comes less than 48 hours after 23-year-old university student Marco Tapia was shot during a home invasion at Glen Alpine, in Sydney’s south-west, in the early hours of Tuesday.
Investigations into both incidents are continuing.
