Fabian Hurzeler is reportedly not interested in leaving Brighton for Manchester United at present, despite increasing speculation over Michael Carrick’s position at Old Trafford.
A report on the German coach’s situation says Hurzeler is “happy” at Brighton and has no plans to leave the club. United are understood to be considering their options as pressure continues to build on Carrick.
Brighton are keen to retain Hurzeler, whose side are currently third in the table. After difficult periods during the past couple of years, the project has begun to take shape since the summer and has attracted interest from bigger clubs.
Manchester United may have to wait for Fabian Hurzeler
Hurzeler’s reluctance to depart comes as his work at Brighton reaches a particularly promising stage. He is now seeing the benefits of the team he has assembled and is not thought to be ready to abandon that progress for a Manchester United side facing uncertainty.
Old Trafford would offer a bigger platform than Brighton, but the current circumstances may make the United job less appealing. The club could therefore decide to continue with Carrick for as long as possible in the hope that results improve.
That approach could also give Manchester United a better chance of pursuing Hurzeler at the end of the season, when he may be more open to testing himself at one of the world’s biggest clubs.
