Manchester City will not sell Erling Haaland despite the uncertainty created by the club’s guilty verdict over serious Premier League financial breaches, with the striker still considered central to their plans.
Haaland is among several high-profile players whose futures have attracted scrutiny since the ruling. Real Madrid, Barcelona and Arsenal have all been linked with the Norway international, but City are understood to have no intention of entertaining offers for him.
The club’s position remains unchanged while the appeals process continues. Haaland’s contract runs until 2034 and is reportedly not subject to a relegation clause allowing him to leave for a fixed fee if City were removed from the Premier League.
Manchester City maintain firm stance over Erling Haaland
The 26-year-old returned to training this week following the international break, as Enzo Maresca held talks with the squad before Sunday’s trip to Liverpool.
A transfer correspondent has reported that City are planning to keep Haaland and do not want to lose him. The striker remains the club’s biggest goal threat and one of the most valuable players in world football.
Haaland has also offered no indication that he is seeking a move away from the Etihad Stadium. Speaking to Reuters, he called for unity at the club, saying: “We have to stick together.”
That public message came as City continue to deal with the consequences of the financial breaches verdict. The severity of any eventual punishment could become more significant if the appeal fails, but for now the club are treating Haaland as unavailable for sale.
Unless Haaland changes his position, talk of an imminent departure remains premature.
