Milwaukee is set for a hot and humid start to the week, with temperatures reaching 90F on Monday and 92F on Tuesday as scattered showers and thunderstorms move across south-east Wisconsin.
FOX6 chief meteorologist Rob Haswell said the heat and humidity would persist through at least Wednesday, with heat indices generally in the low to mid-90s. Areas receiving more sunshine could feel closer to 100F.
Monday will bring scattered morning showers and thunderstorms, followed by the possibility of isolated afternoon storms. The National Weather Service said storm coverage would be limited, but any storms that develop could produce gusty winds or small hail. Milwaukee is expected to remain partly cloudy and humid overnight, with temperatures falling only to around 74F. Winds will come from the south-west at between 3mph and 7mph.
Tuesday will be hotter, with a forecast high of 92F and isolated showers and thunderstorms possible. A slow-moving front is due to arrive on Wednesday, when the temperature is expected to reach 88F. Its lingering presence could bring intermittent showers and storms through much of the rest of the week, with Thursday forecast to be the wettest day and a high of 82F.
There is still a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Friday, when temperatures should reach 84F, before conditions turn partly sunny on Saturday with a high of 84F. Drier, more seasonable air could begin moving into the area by Sunday, according to FOX6.
The National Weather Service’s Milwaukee/Sullivan office said scattered thunderstorms were likely on and off through at least midweek, with an active weather pattern expected to continue across the Great Lakes region.
