The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 2-1 in NLCS Game 1 on Sunday night, giving supporters in Milwaukee an early reason to celebrate in the latest National League Championship Series meeting between the teams.
FOX6 spoke to fans outside American Family Field and at a local bar as the Brewers opened the best-of-seven series with a narrow victory over the defending champions.
The Dodgers took the lead in the second inning when Andy Pages drove in Shohei Ohtani, but Milwaukee levelled the game in the fourth through Brice Turang’s solo home run off Tarik Skubal.
The Brewers moved ahead an inning later. Cooper Pratt’s sacrifice bunt helped put Garrett Mitchell in scoring position before Luis Lara delivered the go-ahead single.
Milwaukee’s pitching staff then protected the advantage. Jacob Misiorowski allowed one run over 4⅓ innings, while the Brewers’ bullpen held Los Angeles scoreless for the remainder of the game.
Trevor Megill completed the win by retiring Mookie Betts for the final out, securing a 1-0 series lead for Milwaukee.
The Brewers and Dodgers will meet again at American Family Field on Monday for Game 2, before the series moves to Los Angeles for the next three scheduled games.
