The sister of McLeod’s Daughters actress Simmone Jade Mackinnon has been found dead after disappearing in Queensland, police have confirmed.
Queensland Police said officers discovered the body of a woman at Tamborine Mountain on Tuesday, September 1. The death was described as non-suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
The discovery came a day after Mackinnon, 53, made a public appeal for help locating her sister Kym, 51.
Kym had last been seen on Guanaba Road at Tamborine Mountain, in Queensland’s Gold Coast Hinterland. She was described as 165cm tall, with a very slim build, dark brown hair and dark brown eyes.
“Have you seen my sister?” Mackinnon wrote in a post shared on Instagram on Monday, urging people to pass the appeal on, “ESPECIALLY if you are in Queensland”.
When followers asked for further details, the actress said she could not provide more information while police were investigating.
“The police will release their official statement very soon. I don’t want to release information before it’s been triple-checked by them,” she wrote.
Former McLeod’s Daughters co-star Rodger Corser was among those to offer his support, writing: “Dear Simmy, can only imagine how you’re feeling right now. Let’s get her found. Much love, Sharing now.”
Mackinnon replied: “Thank you so much buddy, we really appreciate it.”
She had asked anyone with information about Kym’s whereabouts to contact Queensland Police’s Policelink service on 131 444, quoting case file QP2601680614.
Mackinnon is best known for playing Stevie Hall in McLeod’s Daughters between 2003 and 2009. She also played Allie Reese in Baywatch Hawaii from 1999 to 2000 and was nominated for the Gold Logie.
