An empty ski boat has washed ashore on Magnetic Island in North Queensland, prompting a search by land and air that found no sign of anyone connected to the vessel.
The green and white fibreglass boat was discovered at Horseshoe Bay at about 5.30pm on Saturday.
Queensland Police sent a helicopter to search the surrounding area at about 7pm, but no one was found. The aerial search was not resumed on Sunday.
Officers were instead examining the 16-foot boat for clues. It is fitted with an outboard motor.
Police are appealing to anyone who recognises the vessel or has information about its owner and their whereabouts to come forward.
