A Northlake woman has been arrested after her husband and their two young children were found with stab wounds at a home in Denton County, Texas.
Holly Leeann Flores, 37, is accused of attacking the family at a property in the 1200 block of Daylily Drive early on Tuesday, 6 October.
Police were called at about 4.20am after a 34-year-old man reported that his wife had a knife and had stabbed him. Officers arrived within minutes and detained Flores.
The man suffered a wound to his head and was taken to hospital. A three-year-old girl and a ten-month-old boy were also found inside the house with stab wounds to their chests.
The children and their father were taken to hospital. Northlake Police Chief Robert Crawford said the children were being kept in for observation but were not believed to have life-threatening injuries.
Flores was also taken to hospital for observation and treatment for minor injuries before being released into police custody and booked into Denton County Jail.
She faces two counts of attempted capital murder and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to Northlake Police. The allegations have not been tested in court.
Police said the motive remained unclear. Chief Crawford told reporters that Flores had said little when she was detained.
Officers had visited the family’s home five times since March over welfare concerns, the chief said, but he declined to provide further details while the investigation continued.
“Very, very heartbreaking when we have to respond to a traumatic event such as this,” Mr Crawford said at a news conference.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the stabbings.
