Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are facing objections from neighbours over a proposed privacy fence at their lakeside home in Cleveland, Ohio, with concerns raised about nearby sewer lines and local wildlife.
The dispute was considered at an Architectural Review Board meeting about a month ago, where representatives working on the couple’s property discussed plans for a six-foot black, powder-coated aluminium fence.
Under the proposal, the fence would be positioned about two feet inside the property boundary to keep it clear of sewer lines. Swift and Kelce also plan to plant a substantial number of trees, apparently to increase privacy around the home.
However, neighbour Katherine Bolton told the board that the nearby sewer line was her main concern. She questioned whether the proposed trees would be sufficiently far from what she described as an old, deteriorating sewer line.
Bolton also appeared to cast doubt on how long Swift would remain in Cleveland, saying during the meeting: “This applicant may decide to sell her house next year, move on and buy another house.”
Residents raised a further concern about the number of deer in the area, arguing that one could potentially be impaled on a fence post.
The proposed barrier has become an early point of tension for the couple, who married at Madison Square Garden in July. Kelce has since returned to football with the Kansas City Chiefs, who have made a 4-0 start.
