A protester was physically attacked by members of the audience at Donald Trump’s rally in Youngstown, Ohio, after heckling the president, who then mocked the person’s weight from the stage.
The protester was wearing a shirt reading “Release the Epstein Files” when several people moved towards them. Footage from the rally shows pushing and shoving before one man grabbed the protester by the hair and others helped hold them down.
A man wearing a sweatshirt with the words “God’s Got My Back” was among those involved in restraining the protester. Law enforcement officers then intervened and dragged the person from the venue.
Trump described the protester as a paid plant by the left, an unsubstantiated claim, before commenting on their appearance.
“Look at him. Look at him. Terrible. Don’t we love law enforcement? Oh, he’s gotta go on a diet! He’s a fat guy. Wow. Wow. Gotta go on a diet fast. We all do,” he said.
Asked why they had attended the event, the protester replied: “F*** Donald Trump.”
Trump was in Ohio campaigning for Republican Senator Jon Husted, who is in a close race with former senator Sherrod Brown.
