Liverpool explored a move for Real Madrid forward Endrick during the summer, but the Spanish club rejected approaches for the Brazil international, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Reds considered both a permanent transfer and the possibility of signing the 20-year-old on loan as they assessed ways to strengthen their attacking options. However, no formal proposal was submitted.
Liverpool interest in Endrick was blocked by Real Madrid
Romano said Liverpool were among several clubs to show interest in Endrick, alongside Aston Villa, Roma and AC Milan.
“Then there was also interest from Liverpool. Liverpool were keen on Endrick, but that’s it, they never presented any sort of proposal,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.
He added: “Liverpool were thinking of Endrick, even to buy Endrick at some point. But Real Madrid closed the doors to loan and permanent transfer approaches. For Real Madrid, it was not possible to touch the player.”
Endrick was expected to face competition for regular first-team football in Madrid, given the options available to the club in attack. He has made very few appearances this season, however, raising the possibility that his situation could be reassessed before the January window.
The Brazilian’s potential helps explain Liverpool’s interest. Former Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti previously praised Endrick’s early impact, saying: “Endrick has shown his quality very quickly. He is very powerful with his shooting.”
Endrick is regarded in the source material as quick and aggressive around the penalty area, while also being comfortable playing under pressure despite his age. For Liverpool, he would have represented a long-term attacking investment rather than an immediate short-term solution.
If Real Madrid become more willing to sanction a loan in January, Liverpool could revisit their interest after being unable to make progress during the summer.
