Phoenix Police are appealing for information after a man armed with a rifle held up a QuikTrip customer and employee during an early-morning robbery.
The incident happened at about 2am on 9 January at the store on East Baseline Road. Police say the suspect pointed the weapon at a customer standing at the counter before moving behind it, close to the employee.
He tried to open the cash register but was unable to do so because it required a code. The man then took cigarettes and stole a coin purse from a female customer before leaving the shop.
Surveillance footage shows the suspect wearing a black hat, dark hooded top, camouflage jacket, sunglasses, a light-coloured surgical mask, tan gloves, black trousers and black shoes. He was carrying a white Champion backpack and his face was covered.
Investigators describe him as a Hispanic man about 5ft 6in tall and weighing approximately 150lb. His identity remains unknown.
Detectives said people responsible for robberies sometimes discuss the crimes with friends or relatives, claiming they have escaped detection.
A reward of up to $1,000 is available for information leading to the suspect’s whereabouts. Tips can be given anonymously to Silent Witness on 480-WITNESS.
