A search is under way for a woman who failed to return home after hiking at Mount Remarkable in South Australia.
South Australia Police said the alarm was raised at about 9.15pm on Tuesday, September 1, after the hiker did not come back from her walk in the state’s Mid North.
Police helicopter PolAir was sent to the area overnight, while emergency crews searched trails on the ground.
The operation was due to resume at first light on Wednesday, with police patrols, mounted operations and State Emergency Service volunteers joining the effort.
The woman’s age and identity have not been released.
Mount Remarkable National Park is roughly 250 to 290 kilometres north of Adelaide and includes rugged terrain, steep cliffs and a network of walking trails.
