The sister of McLeod’s Daughters actress Simmone Jade Mackinnon is understood to have been found dead in Queensland, just a day after the actor appealed publicly for help locating her.
Queensland Police confirmed on Tuesday 1 September that a woman had died at Tamborine Mountain, in the Gold Coast hinterland. Officers said the death was not being treated as suspicious and that a report would be prepared for the coroner. Police did not publicly identify the woman, but the circumstances correspond with the disappearance of Mackinnon’s 51-year-old sister, Kym, who was last seen on Guanaba Road at Tamborine Mountain.
Mackinnon had shared a missing-person appeal on social media on Monday 31 August, writing: “Have you seen my sister?” She urged people to circulate the post, particularly those living in Queensland.
Kym was described as 165cm tall, with a very slim build, dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. Her daughter had also shared a family photograph and appealed for information from anyone who had seen or heard from her in the previous fortnight.
A friend separately said Kym had been missing since 7 August. Queensland Police had been investigating the missing-person report under case file QP2601680614. ([muckrack.com](https://muckrack.com/media-outlet/tvtonight?utm_source=openai))
