Simu Liu married his long-term partner Allison Hsu in France over the weekend, it was announced on Monday.
The 37-year-old actor, known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Avengers: Doomsday, and Hsu are understood to have married in a private ceremony, with sources telling TMZ that the wedding took place in France.
Simu Liu and Allison Hsu’s relationship
Liu and Hsu began dating in late 2022 and made their red-carpet debut at the premiere of Violent Night in December that year.
The couple became engaged in May 2025, when Liu proposed during a holiday in Paris.
Hsu works in the music industry and joined Interscope Records as an intern in 2017 while studying at UCLA. She was promoted to digital marketing director in 2023 and was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for music in 2022.
She has previously spoken about her pride in being recognised as a young Asian-American woman in the music industry, describing the honour as “surreal” and thanking her family, friends and mentors for their support.
Taylor Swift also played a part in the engagement. Liu has said that Hsu, a Swiftie, had a strong connection with the singer’s music, which had been important to their relationship.
He contacted Swift through her publicist and asked whether she could record a brief congratulations message for Hsu. Liu said Swift sent the video two days later and described it as “the cherry on top” of the proposal.
