South Fulton police are mourning the death of Officer Danielle McClendon, whose colleagues described her as a much-loved member of the department and “family” to those she served alongside.
The South Fulton Police Department announced her death on Thursday, 3 September, but did not disclose her age, length of service or the circumstances surrounding it.

In a statement shared on social media, the department said McClendon’s loss had been felt throughout the agency.
“Danielle was more than an officer and colleague, she was family,” the statement said, reflecting on the close bonds formed by officers who work long hours and rely on one another in difficult situations.
Police said her colleagues would hold on to the memories she created and the impact she had on those who knew her.
“Although our department will not be the same without her, we will hold tightly to the memories she gave us and the impact she made on everyone fortunate enough to know her,” the department said.
The force asked members of the community to keep McClendon’s family, friends and fellow officers in their thoughts and prayers as they mourned.
Funeral arrangements had not been announced. The department ended its tribute by saying McClendon would be “always remembered, forever cherished and forever part of our family”.
