Tottenham are reportedly interested in Atletico Madrid forward Giuliano Simeone, with manager Roberto De Zerbi considering attacking reinforcements ahead of the January transfer window.
Reports from Spain claim Spurs have identified the 23-year-old Argentina international as a possible addition to their squad. His ability to play in wide attacking positions could provide De Zerbi with greater depth and versatility in the final third.
Tottenham interest in Giuliano Simeone faces Atletico hurdle
Simeone has become an important member of Diego Simeone’s Atletico squad, while his energetic style is understood to have increased his appeal to Tottenham.
Any deal would be difficult to arrange, however. Atletico are keen to retain the forward and are reportedly unwilling to consider offers below the €500 million release clause in his contract.
That figure is significantly higher than his estimated market value of about €40 million, according to Transfermarkt. Manchester City and Manchester United have also reportedly looked into the terms of a potential deal.
Simeone extended his Atletico contract in January 2026, committing himself to the Madrid club until June 2030. He is also understood to be comfortable working under his father, making a move away more difficult to secure.
Tottenham have the financial resources to pursue ambitious signings, but Atletico’s stance could complicate any attempt to bring the Argentine to north London.
Spurs may continue to monitor Simeone in the coming months before deciding whether to make a formal approach. If negotiations prove unproductive, De Zerbi’s side could be forced to consider alternative attacking targets.
